摘要: Large steel space structures, when exposed to a harsh corrosive environment, are inevitably subjected to atmospheric corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This paper proposes a framework for assessing the corrosion damage of large steel space structures subjected to both stress corrosion cracking and atmospheric corrosion. The empirical model for estimating atmospheric corrosion based on measured information is briefly introduced. The proposed framework is applied to a real large steel space structure built in the southern coastal area in China to assess its corrosion damage and investigate the effects of atmospheric corrosion on stress corrosion cracking. Based on the results, the conceptual design of the corrosion monitoring system of large steel space structures is finally conducted as the first step for a real corrosion monitoring system.

Virtual pre-assembly for large steel structures based on BIM, PLP algorithm, and 3D measurement

摘要: The current physical pre-assembly method of large steel structures is time consuming and costly and requires large sites. Thus, the pre-assembly of large steel structures in a virtual way, starting from building information modeling (BIM), is an interesting alternative to the physical one. In this study, an innovative method for virtual pre-assembly is proposed on the basis of BIM, plane-line-point algorithm, and 3D measurement. This method determines the optimal analytical least squares of the various built components. The technique verifies the feasibility of the steel structure assembly and the fulfillment of the design geometries, starting from the real data obtained by an accurate metric survey of the fabricated steel elements. The method is applied to a real case, and obtained results largely satisfy the prefixed research objectives. Suggestions to improve the proposed method are also discussed.

Prediction of cyclic large plasticity for prestrained structural steel using only tensile coupon tests

摘要: Cold-formed steel members, which experience complicated prestrain histories, are frequently applied in structural engineering. This paper aims to predict cyclic plasticity of structural steels with tensile and compressive prestrain. Monotonic and cyclic tests on hourglass specimens with tensile and compressive prestrain are conducted, and compared with numerical simulations using the Chaboche model. Two approaches are taken in the simulation. The first requires only the monotonic tensile test data from the prestrained steels, and the second requires both the monotonic tensile test data from the virgin steel and the prestrain histories. The first approach slightly overestimates the compressive stress for specimens with tensile prestrain, while the second approach is able to accurately predict the cyclic plasticity in specimens with tensile and compressive prestrain.

Using machine learning models to explore the solution space of large nonlinear systems underlying flowsheet

摘要: Flowsheet simulations of chemical processes on an industrial scale require the solution of large systems of nonlinear equations, so that solvability becomes a practical issue. Additional constraints from technical, economic, environmental, and safety considerations may further limit the feasible solution space beyond the convergence requirement. A priori, the design variable domains for which a simulation converges and fulfills the imposed constraints are usually unknown and it can become very time-consuming to distinguish feasible from infeasible design variable choices by simply running the simulation for each choice. To support the exploration of the design variable space for such scenarios, an adaptive sampling technique based on machine learning models has recently been proposed. However, that approach only considers the exploration of the convergent domain and ignores additional constraints. In this paper, we present an improvement which particularly takes the fulfillment of constraints into account. We successfully apply the proposed algorithm to a toy example in up to 20 dimensions and to an industrially relevant flowsheet simulation.

摘要:

东方明珠,塔高463.85m,高居亚洲之二,世界第三,被公认为是上海最重要的城市标志。雅加达塔,高558m,建筑面积32万m2,均堪称世界之最。东方明珠的成功,雅加达塔的中标,在很大程度上要归功于设计创新。东方明珠设计者用一串明珠来标志上海,用带斜撑的巨型空间框架作为主体结构,打破了混凝土电视塔常用的单筒体结构模式,从而获得了很好的标志性。这种结构同时很有利于抗风抗震。该塔还采用了许多高新技术,如预应力混凝土壳、双重悬挂钢结构和攀升天线等设计,它们巧妙而合理地解决了复杂的结构构造和高难度施工的问题。设计者在雅加达塔上,继承和发扬东方明珠的长处,克服它的不足,并赋予许多新的创造。为了使新的创造建立在坚实科学基础上,设计者为东方明珠塔进行了大量的试验研究工作。

Performance of steel bridge deck pavement structure with ultra high performance concrete based on resin

摘要: This research investigated a pavement system on steel bridge decks that use epoxy resin (EP) bonded ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). Through FEM analysis and static and dynamic bending fatigue tests of the composite structure, the influences of the interface of the pavement layer, reinforcement, and different paving materials on the structural performance were compared and analyzed. The results show that the resin bonded UHPC pavement structure can reduce the weld strain in the steel plate by about 32% and the relative deflection between ribs by about 52% under standard axial load conditions compared to traditional pavements. The EP bonding layer can nearly double the drawing strength of the pavement interface from 1.3 MPa, and improve the bending resistance of the UHPC structure on steel bridge decks by about 50%; the bending resistance of reinforced UHPC structures is twice that of unreinforced UHPC structure, and the dynamic deflection of the UHPC pavement structure increases exponentially with increasing fatigue load. The fatigue life is about 1.2 × 107 cycles under a fixed force of 9 kN and a dynamic deflection of 0.35 mm, which meets the requirements for fatigue performance of pavements on steel bridge decks under traffic conditions of large flow and heavy load.

Numeric simulation for structure’s damage identification of space truss

摘要: Damage detection by using the changes of dynamic parameters is a conventional damage diagnosis method, however, some indices are not sensitive enough to the most structural damages. In this study, the analytical data of displacement modes of truss structure are obtained by using the finite element analysis sof—ANSYS. The mode analysis technique for the axial strain change of any stick is used to detect the steel trusses with different damages. The analytical results show that the damage location and degree of the truss stick can be effectively diagnosed by means of the axial strain change.

Layout optimization of steel reinforcement in concrete structure using a truss-continuum model

摘要: Owing to advancement in advanced manufacturing technology, the reinforcement design of concrete structures has become an important topic in structural engineering. Based on bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO), a new approach is developed in this study to optimize the reinforcement layout in steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) structures. This approach combines a minimum compliance objective function with a hybrid truss-continuum model. Furthermore, a modified bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (M-BESO) method is proposed to control the level of tensile stress in concrete. To fully utilize the tensile strength of steel and the compressive strength of concrete, the optimization sensitivity of steel in a concrete–steel composite is integrated with the average normal stress of a neighboring concrete. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed procedures, reinforcement layout optimizations of a simply supported beam, a corbel, and a wall with a window are conducted. Clear steel trajectories of SRC structures can be obtained using both methods. The area of ​​critical tensile stress in concrete yielded by the M-BESO is more than 40% lower than that yielded by the uniform design and BESO. Hence, the M-BESO facilitates a fully digital workflow that can be extremely effective for improving the design of steel reinforcements in concrete structures.

Simulation of steel beam under ceiling jet based on a wind–fire–structure coupling model

摘要: For localized fires, it is necessary to consider the thermal and mechanical responses of building elements subject to uneven heating under the influence of wind. In this paper, the thermomechanical phenomena experienced by a ceiling jet and I-beam in a structural fire were simulated. Instead of applying the concept of adiabatic surface temperature (AST) to achieve fluid–structure coupling, this paper proposes a new computational fluid dynamics–finite element method numerical simulation that combines wind, fire, thermal, and structural analyses. First, to analyze the velocity and temperature distributions, the results of the numerical model and experiment were compared in windless conditions, showing good agreement. Vortices were found in the local area formed by the upper and lower flanges of the I-beam and the web, generating a local high-temperature zone and enhancing the heat transfer of convection. In an incoming-flow scenario, the flame was blown askew significantly; the wall temperature was bimodally distributed in the axial direction. The first temperature peak was mainly caused by radiative heat transfer, while the second resulted from convective heat transfer. In terms of mechanical response, the yield strength degradation in the highest-temperature region in windless conditions was found to be significant, thus explaining the stress distribution of steel beams in the fire field. The mechanical response of the overall elements considering the incoming flows was essentially elastic.

Hierarchical fractal structure of perfect single-layer graphene

The atomic lattice structure of perfect single-layer graphene that can actually be regarded as a kind of hierarchical fractal structure from the perspective of fractal geometry was studied for the first time. Three novel and special discoveries on hierarchical fractal structure and sets were unveiled upon examination of the regular crystal lattices of the single-layer graphene. The interior fractal-type structure was discovered to be the fifth space-filling curve from physical realm. Two efficient methods for calculating the fractal dimension of this fresh member was also provided. The outer boundary curve had a fractal dimension equal to one, and a multi-fractal structure from a naturally existing material was found for the first time. A series of strict self-similar hexagons comprised a rotating fractal set. These hexagons slewed at a constant counterclockwise angle of 19.1° when observed from one level to the next higher level. From the perspective of fractal geometry, these pioneering discoveries added three new members to the existing regular fractal structures and sets. A fundamental example of a multi-fractal structure was also presented.

论述了对泰州长江公路大桥超大型薄壁钢壳沉井加工工艺和焊接工艺的合理选择,针对钢壳沉井外形尺寸大、壁薄的特点,采用了合理的焊接、拼装方法,使单元件加工、各单元件组装和整体拼装过程的精度,以及对薄壁钢板的焊接和防变形的精度得到有效控制,从而保证加工质量。

大空间内着火位置对火灾增长的影响

摘要:

以大空间展厅为例,利用火源辐射模型和烟气辐射模型并结合CFAST6.0区域模拟软件的计算结果,对比分析了大空间内不同着火位置下火灾增长的情况。研究结果表明仅考虑火源热辐射的情况下,展厅内着火位置越处于左右中间对称处,其火灾增长越快,热释放速率峰值也越大,达到热释放速率峰值的时间和火灾的持续时间越短,处于展厅中心位置时所有值达峰值。对火源热辐射和烟气辐射综合考虑时,到达热释放速率峰值时间与火灾持续时间的规律同仅考虑火源辐射模型时一致,但热释放速率峰值均有不同程度的提高。

Seismic analysis of a super high-rise steel structure with horizontal strengthened storeys

摘要: Horizontal strengthened storeys are widely used in super high-rise steel structures to improve the lateral structural rigidity. This use has great effects on the seismic properties of the entire structure. The seismic properties of the Wuhan International Securities Building (a 68-storey super high-rise steel structure with three horizontal strengthened storeys) were evaluated in this study. Two approaches, i.e., mode-superposition response spectrum analysis and time-history analysis, were employed to calculate the seismic response of the structure. The response spectrum analysis indicated that transition parts near the three strengthened storeys were weak zones of the structure because of the abrupt change in rigidity. In the response spectrum analysis approach, the Square Root of Sum of Square (SRSS) method was recommended when the vertical seismic effects could be ignored. However, the complete quadratic combination (CQC) method was superior to SRSS method when the vertical seismic effects should be considered. With the aid of time-history analysis, the seismic responses of the structure were obtained. The whiplash effect that spectrum analysis cannot reveal was observed through time-history analysis. This study provides references for the seismic design of super high-rise steel structures with horizontal strengthened storeys.
